“Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee,
go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee,
thou hast gained thy brother.” (Matthew 18:15)
Remember, the Bible doesn't command Christians to like
each other, but they are obliged to get along with each other.
Imagine how you would feel If you were called on the
carpet to answer bogus charges made by people that may not even exist for all
you know, or because you violated someone's taboo or preference and they are
not man enough to discuss and resolve the matter personally and peacefully, or
because jumping to conclusions is the only exercise some brains ever get. It
happens all too often in conservative, Bible-believing churches and it is
preventable.
One reason Matthew 18:15 is important is all too often
"offended" Christians are just hypersensitive to any violations of
their taboos, personal preferences, and family traditions, and prefer to cry to
the pastor and the grapevine rather than confront the person that
"offended" them.
