REAP THE WHIRLWIND

“He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.” (Proverbs 13:24)

“Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.” (Proverbs 22:15)

“Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.” (Proverbs 22:17)

“Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.” (Proverbs 23:13-14)

“The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.” (Proverbs 29:15)

“Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.” (Isaiah 28:9)

In the 1940s so-called "experts" were teaching that it is wrong to use corporal punishment to discipline children and you should not teach your children about religion and morality until they are grown, and along with this the idea that children must have everything their parents did not have materially became increasingly common. As years and decades passed, this philosophy of spoiling and not disciplining and teaching children kept gaining popularity so that we have a large segment of the "adult" population that were undisciplined and spoiled to the point of replacing reality and critical thinking with delusions and wishful thinking and behaving like spoiled children in pursuit of utopian dreams and fantasies. Sadly, a lot of spoiled brats hold public offices and positions of influence. None of this is a recent development.
