About a year before I was
born again, I was listening to a preacher on the radio who invited lost people
to say a repeat-after-me prayer, which I did, and I was sincere, but I was no
more saved than Job’s donkey. About a year later I learned more about who Jesus
is, what salvation is, and how depraved I am, and that I needed a personal
experience with Jesus Christ, and I was born again in my apartment using a
couch as an altar after coming home from church. I do not remember all the
words I prayed or how long I prayed, but I know I repented and believed and
prayed until God changed me and I knew I was a child of God.
When people talk about doubting their salvation I ask, “Did God change you?” and “Do you KNOW you are a child of God?" and "If you died today and stood before the gate of Heaven and angels asked why you should be allowed in what would be your response?"
